CORONAVIRUS

Due to the coronavirus, Forge Medical Practice informs you that all appointments will be converted to telephone appointments. Only patients that have been requested to attend by a clinician should come into the practice for a face to face appointment until further notice. If you need to contact us, please call the practice – see https://www.theoldforgesurgery.nhs.uk for more information. If you are worried about Coronavirus, then please use the NHS111 online service for advice and help - https://111.nhs.uk/service/COVID-19/

We would ask that patients be patient with the reception staff and clinicians during this difficult period. The advice from the Government can change as the virus progresses and we will be updating information as we receive it. We request  where possible patients sign up for online access. Please contact the surgery for help with this. Can we also remind patients that it is important to update the surgery with current telephone numbers as we may need to contact them when necessary. Temporary Registration

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
